Aloha all,

This is your chance to comment on the State Department of Health’s interim rules for Hawai’i’s new medical marijuana dispensary system! As an industry or subject matter expert, or as someone interested in the coming dispensary system, please review the interim rules, FAQ, and merit criteria, as well as our initial draft comments and send your feedback to info@hawaiidispensaryalliance.org by Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 5:00 PM. This will likely be the industry’s only opportunity to present its views to DoH and the Legislature in a public setting prior to the beginning of the dispensary application period and the Spring 2016 legislative session. Read on for more information about this unique opportunity for you to help improve Hawai’i’s medical marijuana industry.

The State Department of Health recently released its interim rules for Hawaii’s new medical marijuana dispensary system, the merit criteria for the dispensary applications, and an FAQ addressing initial questions about the interim rules.  The Hawaii Dispensary Alliance has been given a unique opportunity to present the industry’s view of DoH’s new rules at an informational briefing on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 1:30 pm in Conference Room 325, at the Capitol, before the House Committee on Health and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Health. The details can be found here.

The Hawai’i Dispensary Alliance is extremely honored to join the State Department of Health, State Department of Public Safety, State Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, the Drug Policy Forum of Hawai’i, and the Hawaii State Bar Association in discussing the status and progress of the implementation of Act 241, relating to medical marijuana, the promulgation of interim rules and regulations pursuant to Act 241, and areas of further policy development related to medical marijuana dispensaries.

BUT, the Alliance needs your help to provide appropriate feedback to DoH, DPS, DBEDT, and the State Legislature that reflects the needs and opinions of everyone involved in the industry. After analyzing the rules, merit criteria, and FAQ, and speaking with legislator’s and our current members over the last few days we have compiled this list of comments to present to DoH.  Now we want to know what you think of the new rules and the impact the different provisions will have on your interests, businesses, causes, neighborhoods, communities, children, medical patients, and Hawaii’s economy, culture, and future. Please review the interim rules, FAQ, and merit criteria, as well as our initial draft comments and send your feedback about any part of the rules to info@hawaiidispensaryalliance.org by Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 5:00 PM.  Even if you cannot review everything, send us comments on those parts that most interest you, or where you are most qualified to comment, every little piece of feedback helps.

Over the weekend, the Alliance will compile your comments, draft our testimony, and prepare to present it on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 1:30 pm in Conference Room 325. Join us in support of the legislative and administrative process of iterative improvement as we work to build a sustainable medical marijuana industry in Hawai’i to the benefit of all. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

If you have any questions about this process or you want to be more directly involved, do contact us right away. We look forward to speaking with you in person, on Facebook or Twitter, and over the phone. You should also consider joining the Alliance to take on a larger role in directing the industry into the future, make profitable business alliances, and receive the Hawai’i’s only state specific industry analysis in our monthly newsletter.

Best Regards,
