The Hawai‘i State Department of Health officially released the Dispensary Rules for Hawai‘i’s new Medical Marijuana Dispensary system on December 15, 2015.  The new rules are available on the Department of Health’s website and HERE.

This early release comes as a pleasant surprise to the industry which did not expect the rules until early January. The Alliance is excited about the Department of Health’s quick release of the rules and this opportunity for dispensary applicants to create better applications with the guidance of these rules.

The new rules cover:

  • The Licensing Process and Application Requirements
  • Dispensary, Grow, and Manufacturing Operations
  • Industry Security
  • Marijuana Tracking Requirements
  • Products and Product Standards
  • Laboratory Certification, Testing, and Standards
  • Signage, Packaging, and Labeling Requirements
  • Enforcement Considerations

There will be an informational briefing on December 29, 2015, where the DoH will update the Legislature on the status of the new rules.  Your Alliance is also being given the opportunity to provide the Legislature with its view of the new rules at the briefing.

As always, the Alliance will be here to keep you informed of the process.  Follow us on our Facebook or Twitter to receive our updates as soon as we post them!  Let us know if you have any questions about the administrative rules or upcoming application period.  Join the Alliance today to receive our Hawai‘i specific newsletter and analysis of the new rules in our upcoming issue.
