This is the “Hello World” moment for the Hawai‘i Dispensary Alliance!

The Alliance is proud to announce its emergence as the preeminent business advocate for the collective interests of Hawai‘i’s legitimate cannabis industry.  We are a patient-centric, not-for-profit trade association dedicated to promoting the industry while protecting medicinal cannabis users’ right to quality care and unimpeded access.

Our mission is to bring together patients, dispensaries, related businesses, local communities, and government actors to promote favorable developments in Hawai‘i’s legal, social, and economic environment.  As a membership-based Alliance, we aim to serve the needs of Hawai‘i’s medical marijuana patients and businesses by promoting community outreach, expanding public education, and providing legislative representation.  These programs will be advanced and driven not only by the new dispensaries, but by input from the physicians and patients who maintain an intimate knowledge of the industry that plays such a vital role in their everyday well-being.

The Hawai‘i Dispensary Alliance additionally aims to serve as an intermediary for the dispensary applicants looking to complete their applications prior to submittal to the Department of Health.  We look forward to being a part of the discussion with DoH regarding the status of their patient registry in October; and we will inform our members about the status of the new DoH online registration program and tracking systems.  We also hope to send a well-researched draft of dispensary administrative rules to DoH in late-October that reflects the unique needs of Hawai‘i and especially the necessity of a merit-based approach to the licensing process.

The Alliance’s involvement in the development of Hawai‘i’s legitimate cannabis industry is not limited to policy making on the behalf of patients and dispensaries.  We are actively working to incubate an entire industry – which means we are seeking out and connecting with all of the related businesses and service providers necessary for the impending growth of this new industry.  We are also working to foster a viable local market for the skills of Hawai‘i’s residents by providing opportunities for professional education and certification and by linking people with new careers in the industry.

We are an organization that wears many hats and has a voice in a very diverse set of conversations, and we look forward to partnering with you as we help define a new economic and social balance for Hawai‘i.
