This month, in “A Look Back at Hawai‘i’s ‘Medical Marijuana Week’ “, members will learn all of the details from the recent week-long series of events organized to help keep the industry informed about the development of the medical marijuana industry in Hawai‘i and across the United States. Your Alliance was present at all of the events collecting information on your behalf, and in this edition of the newsletter we break down the most important lessons we learned each day.
- On October 21, your HDA co-sponsored the standing-room only kick-off event, “Green Rush, Gold Standard,” a panel on innovation and opportunities within the medical marijuana industry.
- On October 22, Department of Health officials finally answered some questions about the medical marijuana program at a morning legislative briefing.
- On October 23, the week culminated with a full day of medical marijuana workshops at the annual Hawai‘i State Bar Association (HSBA) Convention.
In “Spotlight on Patients: Civil Protections”, Medical marijuana patients will also be particularly interested to learn about the 2015 bill expanding civil protections for medical marijuana patients in Hawai‘i.
Finally, in “Real Estate and Medical Marijuana Dispensaries”, we begin a series of articles looking at the various relationships that exist between real estate and the medical marijuana industry, culminating in an analysis of what is likely to be required of dispensaries under Hawai‘i’s Act 241. This month’s inaugural article specifically addresses the issues that landowners should consider when engaging the medical marijuana industry.
